The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Jovokamp for 130 Single Adults

Over 130 Young Single Adults from the Netherlands and Belgium came together for a wonderful week at Camp Zonnewende in a beautifully forested area in St. Michielsgestel. Zomer Jovokamp took place Aug. 2-7, 2010. Church members, non-members, and investigators forged great friendships during the week-long experience where they could leave their worldly cares behind for a few days. They were able to choose outstanding workshops every morning that strengthened their personal testimonies. The days were filled with service to the local community, swimming, canoeing, biking, dancing, group games, visiting , eating tons of delicious food, and a fireside by Area Authority Elder Sterri from Oslo, Norway. One afternoon the Jovos went to the nearby train station in Den Bosch to do a "Freeze!" activity. They attracted a lot of attention by passersby as they held their poses for five minutes. A television reporter interviewed them for the evening news program. Who should they run into but Elders Matthews and Fullmer out doing their missionary work! The culminating experience on Saturday was the memorable and very spiritual testimony meeting.

The YSA's were supported by Elder and Sister Pankratz from the Amsterdam Center, Elder and Sister Langeveld from the Rotterdam Center, Pres. Hans Noot, Bro. and Sis. Buddy Goud from Groningen, Bro. and Sis. Boegaard from the Antwerpen Center, Bro. Bruce Flinn from England, excellent workshop guest speakers, and a fantastic kitchen crew who provided tremendous food for everyone. The Committee, chaired by Christopher Weenig from Groningen, did an outstanding job of planning and making it all happen. Elder and Sister Tibbitts, Mission Office Couple, taught a wonderful workshop on career planning one morning.

President and Sister Brubaker enjoyed trying out one of the 15 tandem bicycles that were available for the young adults to ride during the week!
