The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Maria Gonzales is Baptized in Almere

Maria Gonzales, Almere, April 17, 2011

Maria was a miracle. And her life was changed because of a two week vacation to Hilversum. While she was there, she stayed with her friend Katherine Jonkhout (a member of the church). Katherine eventually invited her to come to a Talent Evening at the Branch there. There she had an overwhelming feeling of peace and joy that she has never before had. She later went with Katherine to church on Sunday and had that same feeling. Maria found what she was looking for. Prior to her visit to Hilversum, she heard a lot about the Mormons through the Osmond family. She was so impressed by their example and happiness that they showed, and wanted that also.

Maria told Katherine that she wanted to be baptized. And asked her what she needed to do to fulfill that. Katherine called the missionaries in Almere (Elder Da Cruz and Elder Osmond) to come and teach her the lessons. They jumped on the opportunity and came on April 1st. Maria was so excited to start learning about the church. She had been reading the Book of Mormon that Katherine gave her and could not put it down. She opened up to the Elders and explained that she has gone through many difficulties in her life, yet she still believed in God and desired to follow Him and His son Jesus Christ. She explained to the Elders that she knew it was all true and that she wanted to be baptized as soon as possible. The Elders taught her for 2 weeks almost every day and she kept all of her commitments. Within these two weeks her life was changed and she came closer to God.

Maria was interviewed on the 14th in Rotterdam right before the fireside from the Osmonds. She attended the fireside that night and continued to have a spiritual experience.

Maria was baptized and confirmed on April 17th, 2011 in Almere by Elder Osmond and President Brouwer. She was beaming. The spirit was so strong at the service and everyone could feel it. Her life was changed forever. Maria will be attending the Spijkenisse Ward and will be a great addition to the fold. She has a powerful testimony and is a disciple of Christ.
