The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Mother and Son Welcome the Gospel

Tim and Andrea, Deventer, May 1, 2011

Tim and Andrea are some of the most wonderful recent members they were also the most wonderful investigators. Andrea was first in contact with the church through the Osmonds when she was a young girl, but the time was not yet right. A couple of years later Andrea's 14 year old son had some questions about faith after experiencing a family tragedy, he went to the internet and found the website for the church and read and found a church to attend. The first Sunday Andrea came with Tim and after that Tim came every week alone for about 3 months before we were able to meet and teach Tim. The first lesson we sat with Tim and his parents and discussed how the teaching process would work, we came to an agreement to meet every Friday afternoon, but after only a couple short weeks we had taught Tim everything he needed to know to be baptised. After discussing it with his parents, Tim's father agreed but Andrea thought it was a little fast so the next week she decided to sit in on the lessons as well. Quickly they became our most solid and wonderful investigators. They were always prepared with questions form their reading and in only a matter of weeks Andrea had read the whole Book of Mormon and the Gospel Principles book. They both continued to have spiritual experiences, as we quickly went through the lessons. It came time for baptism but they did not quite feel ready yet so we waited and after a time we set a baptismal date, at no other place but the Donny Osmond fireside in Utrecht. A couple weeks later they were baptised with big smiles on their faces. (Written by Elder Waldie)
