The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Dutch Zone Conferences in Zoetemeer

We had the privilege of attending the temple with our Dutch missionaries for the first part of our Zone Conference. We are greatly blessed to have a temple in our mission. The temple is located in Zoetemeer. It is a beautiful temple!

As we entered the temple I was consumed with an overwhelming feeling of love for the temple, and that I was here. I was crying as I gave my recommend to the Temple president. I’m sure the missionaries wondered if I was all right, but I just was overcome with gratitude for this sweet small temple here in Holland. I just felt we were all just a little closer to heaven.

I feel bad we didn’t get a picture outside of the temple, but we all were leaving at different times. The church in Zoetemeer is in an office building with just a sink for the kitchen. For lunch we gave our missionaries a surprise Christmas lunch. We shared with them our family tradition of cheese fondue. The missionaries were so surprised to see that we were having something different besides sandwiches! Sister Fowler was so helpful and got all of the fondue pots oiled and on the table. Elder Simonson has been trained well! He was such a big help! The room looked so nice with the green tablecloths and festive napkins! The missionaries were happy campers! They ate as much fondue as they could possibly hold!

We met all together for training after lunch. After having been in the temple together, everyone was on a higher plane. The assistants talked about finding, finding, finding. They prepared a slide presentation of all the baptisms since the last zone conference. It really brought a special spirit to the meeting! Scott taught from the Pearl of Great Price. He taught about the grand picture starting with the council in heaven.
