The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

A Day Never To Be Forgotten

Craig and Claudia Kaelin, our dear friends from Salt Lake City came to visit us! They landed in Brussels at about the same time our missionaries were getting ready to depart.
On Sunday, we shared with them a very special day in Antwerp. Anja and her 11 year old son, Djamil were baptized. After waiting 5 years for this day to come, we felt honored to be part of this "red letter" day.
Elder Brockbank has gotten so close to the family as he and Elder Matthews have been teaching them. A very strong bond between Tarfur and Elder Brockbank that will continue even though he is being transferred.
Claudia and Lucky became instant friends! Lucky was visiting from Amsterdam. I feel so "lucky to have her in my life.
She is a true example of christ-like love.
Another familiar face.....Zuster Fritz was visiting with her mom from Utah. She served in Antwerp and was so
excited to be back!
There were many changes this transfer due to our move to the Netherlands. One of them being that Elder and Sister Tibbitts will be moving as well. They have been a huge support to the ward, and have loved going on joint teaches with the missionaries to Anja's house. They have become like sisters. Many tears were shed as they said their good-byes.
Craig enjoyed visiting with a sweet young dynamic couple from the U. S. They found they had many things in common as they shared their love of music.
That evening Craig willingly put on a musical fireside in Rotterdam. He shared his love for the L.D.S. hymns, and played some of his own arrangements.

Craig has a special gift of inviting the spirit as he plays.
"Music is given of God to further his purposes. Sweet melodies mellow the souls of men and help prepare them for the gospel. After men receive the truth, songs of praise to Deity help to sanctify and cleanse their souls."
-- Elder Bruce R. McConkie
"Music is truly the universal language, and when it is excellently expressed how deeply it moves our souls."
-- President David O. McKay
The young adults were pleasantly surprised when Craig gave those who were musically inclined, a
book of hymns arranged by him.
"We get nearer to the Lord through music than perhaps through any other thing except prayer."--
President J. Reuben Clark Jr.
"We are in a position, as musicians, to touch the souls of those who listen."
-- President Spencer W. Kimball
Sister Perry and Sister Holbein shared this musical evening with their investigator, Hady.

"Hymns can lift our spirits, give us courage, and move us to righteous action. They can fill our souls with heavenly thoughts and bring us a spirit of peace."--
"First Presidency Preface," Hymns
