The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

The Realignment of Our Mission

President Brubaker received an email from the Europe Area Presidency today concerning the Realignment of the Belgium Brussels/Netherlands and France Paris Missions.

"The First Presidency has determined that boundaries will be realigned between the Belgium Brussels/Netherlands and France Paris Missions. The realignment will result in the Lille France and Brussels Belgium Stakes moving from the Belgium Brussels/Netherlands Mission to the France Paris Mission. This realignment will take effect on 1 March 2010."

This news came as a complete surprise to President Brubaker and I. As of March 1st all of our French speaking missionaries would no longer be in our mission. We were deeply saddened by this news, as each missionary has become very near and dear to our hearts over the past eight months. We have had the honor and privilege of forming eternal bonds with our Francophone missionaries, and each one has blessed our lives forever. At the same time we are excited for the opportunity our French missionaries will have to become part of the France Paris Mission.

President Brubaker and I were serving in this mission as Public Affairs missionaries when we received a new calling to preside over the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission. We served under President and Sister Staheli for four months, and grew to love them. They have become dear friends, and this change will be much easier for us knowing they will be in good hands.

I know this decision is from the Lord. My head is telling me this is the right thing for the French people to be united as one body, but my heart is lagging behind. As I have quoted my favorite scripture many times to my missionaries, this scripture takes on a deeper meaning for me.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path. Proverbs 3:5
