The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Now Jackson's Family is Complete

Quentin, Wassenaar, July 17, 2011

We started specifically teaching Quentin once Jackson and Morgan were baptized. He was very willing and had many questions. Elder Davies and Ellsworth had first found Jackson and his family. Though Jackson and his family were taught together Quentin’s understanding of the English Language was not as advanced as Jackson’s and Morgan. As stated in the story of Jackson and Morgan many Elders came to teach: Elders Mueller, McCarlie, Alexander, Seaman, and myself (Benson). Unfortunately the time came for Jackson and Morgan to be baptized but Quentin was not yet ready. He felt like he was left behind. That was quickly fixed by the assurance that now the entire focus of the Elders was on him. Jackson and Morgan acted as translators as Quentin was taught the Gospel. Through the Holy Ghost Quentin too was able to know “the truth of all things.” Quentin read and prayed and was supported by his father and brother in his efforts to know the truths of God. Quentin enjoyed learning and had some quite funny questions. Jackson was an excellent translator and as always compared the message clearly through example stories. The time came that Quentin was ready to be baptized and during his time of preparation, Jackson (his father) was also being prepared to receive The Aaronic Priesthood of God in order to be able to baptize his son. During one appointment Quentin thought that his father’s lack of experience in baptizing would be a problem and expressed his concerns that his father could not perform the sacred ordinance. So we decided to help Jackson practice at his house. Quentin was happily surprised to see his father was very well capable of baptizing him. The day came Jackson received the authority of the Aaronic Priesthood and baptized his son Quentin. It was a beautiful experience to see the growth of both of them in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Everyone could feel the love there between Father and son both earthly and Heavenly. Quentin describes his experience as a happy time and now he thinks back and it brings him joy, that he made the decision to follow his Savior and make a covenant with his Heavenly Father.
