The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

David and Isabel Geens Are Prepared to Become An Eternal Family

David and Isabel Geens, Gent

19 November 2011

David and Isabel Geens were baptized on 19 November 2011. They have 2 children, Laurens (8), Lucas (6), and are such a wonderful family! Sister Isabel Geens has been in contact with the church since her teenage years. Brother Geens searched for the truth for 20 years and came into contact through his wife. They decided to investigate together in 2010. After a year of diligent study and prayer on their own, they both developed testimonies that this was the truth. During the branch Halloween party in Gent on 28 October 2011, Brother Geens turned to Elder Larson and said, " What are the steps I need to make to be baptized?" That night we set a goal for 19 November for them to be baptized. Over the course of the next few weeks, we met several times and reviewed what they already knew very well. On the day of their baptism, it was so exciting to see this family together. They are excited to be members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and are looking forward to going to the temple together on 24 November 2012. 3. In the summer of 1989, my companion and I first met Isabel. Even then we knew she was a pretty special person who would change the lives of many people. Because of her age and the distance from Brugge were we worked, my companion and I wrote her letters to answer her questions. We only ever met her once, at the chapel in Brugge, and we knew that someday she would be baptized. We said a prayer especially for her and asked Heavenly Father to watch out for "Belle". It was our hope and prayer that someday other missionaries would find her and teach her what we could not.

A couple of years ago, she found me on facebook and introduced me to her husband David. I have had the pleasure of getting to know them both and to see them grow in the gospel. Their baptism motivated me to contact Elder Bush, my missionary companion when we met Isabel. He sends his best wishes and congratulations as well. We know that their family will be a blessing to their branch and the gospel will bring much joy in their lives.

Congratulations to our Belle and David for becoming members of the church. We look forward to the day when they get to go to the temple. I still remember the day we met Isabel and she showed us a picture of the Salt Lake Temple. She wanted to someday go there and I hope she finally gets that wish. It's been 22 years, but she is proof that Heavenly Father does answer prayers, that he loves each of us, and that he knows our hearts. It is my prayer that they continue to receive the blessings of our Heavenly Father and that He will watch over them.
