The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Sinterklass Finds Us In Belgium!

Sinter Klaas found our wooden shoes that we left out on December 5th!
We must have been pretty good this year!

The eve of December 5th is a special day for all Dutch children. This is when Sinterklaas rides around the country on his white horse. Children put shoes under the chimney and they also place a piece of carrot in them as a reward for the horse. Sinterklaas stops at the roof of the houses and send a Piet down the chimney to put some kind of gift in the shoes. This is often a piece of chocolate in the form of the receiver's first initial and pepernoten, small hard cookies. This is a very busy time for Sinterklaas, in the day he visits schools and other places and in the evening people's homes. He knocks on the door and hand out gifts from his sack.

After celebrating Sinter Klaas day, Sister Tibbitts came to help with the massive project of making Christmas cookies for the missionaries. Then we went to the office for lunch with our office staff.. Christmas packages are coming to the office in record number! Elder Marshall and Sister Tibbitts are making sure that these will be delivered before Christmas!
Elder Conder, our financial secretary had a birthday today! We had lots of celebrating to do. Elder Conder has all the financial records in tip top shape. We love you Elder Conder.
Back to making cookies. Evelyn and I spent the afternoon and evening making Christmas cookies for our Zone Conferences. President Brubaker and Elder and Sister Tibbitts came to the rescue and pitched in and helped. We all had so much fun together!
Here are some of the finished products!
