The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Buddah Finds True Happiness

Buddah, 15 February, 2012
St. Niklaas

Elder Maughan, Buddah and Elder Wilcken

Buddah comes from Nepal, and he has been living in Belgium for around 6 months. He came to Belgium to earn money for his family back home in Nepal. He has had a very hard life and just wanted to find happiness. But whether he knew it or not, he also came to Belgium to find the true happiness that is found in the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ! Early on Buddah committed himself to read 2 chapters in the Book of Mormon each day! His testimony of Jesus Christ grew very quickly. Then as he started receiving answers to his prayers, he desired to become baptized! His baptism was scheduled to be on Saturday February 11th. He was going to have Elder Wilcken baptize him right before Elder Wilcken ended his mission and returned home. The day before his baptism he called us and said that he got called into work, and had to work on Friday and also the night of his baptism. This made it impossible to be baptized on Saturday February 11th. This was very devastating for Buddah, but he knew that he could be baptized soon.

The following Monday we received a call from the Assistants to the President. After much discussion and much prayer, we decided that Buddah needed to be baptized as soon as possible. We called Buddah and told him we felt that he needed to be baptized soon. We asked him when he could be baptized and he said on Wednesday! We were unsure if this was the right thing to do, but after more prayer and discussion we decided that he needed be baptized on Wednesday! The same day that Elder Wilcken was to return to the mission office for his preparations to return home the following day.

Wednesday finally arrived and Buddah was baptized! The Spirit was very strong! Buddah was very happy, he had found true joy!  Elder Wilcken baptized him in the morning then jumped on a train headed for the mission office, then the following morning he returned home to Utah to his family.
