The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Leadership Council Goes on as Planned..In the Snow

When we woke up this morning there was a blanket of snow covering the trees and the roads! Belgium isn't well known for it's efficient snow removal equipment. President Brubaker considered canceling our Leadership Council meeting today. But the Zone leaders were already on their way! We prayed hard and everyone arrived safely.

These were the early birds. I had hot wassail and french pastries waiting for them

First on the agenda was to review the mission's progress. Greatfully the trend is upward!
Working with the local members of the church was stressed. An investigator referred by a member of the church is 6 times more likely to choose to be baptized into the church than one who is not a referral.
Working well with members is enhanced when we understand them better. Here our own Elder Tibbitts shares
with the Elders the many responsibilities that a bishop has. (He should know, he's been a Bishop and a Bishop's
counselor more than a few times)
"Now YOU practice", said President Brubaker. Each was given a 'ward' leadership position and went to a 'ward council' meeting.
Wow 'there is a lot more to this than I imagined' felt the missionaries as they role-played an actual ward council meeting.

By the way, Bishop DeBruijn did a great job!
Every Ward council should end with a Chicken Curry and Rice.
Our favorite Mission Leader Christmas Pose
