The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Better Late Than Never!

We were just about ready to leave for the airport Friday morning, when President Brubaker first checked to see if the flight from Atlanta was on time. We had precious cargo on this flight. Due to mechanical problems their flight was going to be 4 hours late! The assistants were already at the airport, so we asked them to come to the mission home and shovel snow.
We were grateful for their service, and especially me, because, due to a unfortunate fall, President Brubaker can't put weight on his leg for a few weeks. They came to save the day! We were able to get out of our driveway and go meet our new missionaries.
After a wait, these handsome young missionaries and two smiling sisters finally arrived in Brussels!
We were relieved to have them here safe and sound.
What a marvelous young group of missionaries. There were 9 of them!
Elder Marshall and Elder Keith oriented the missionaries.
We quickly fed them lunch before they all succumbed to jet lag.
Then the anticipated opening of their calls......
Elder Klippel will be serving in Amsterdam with Elder DeMeester.
Elder Jones will be serving with Elder Bair in Rotterdam.
Elder Ellis was excited to be going to Zwolle being trained by Elder Wells.
Elder Davies will be serving in Leiden with Elder Ellsworth as his trainer.
Elder Benson will be serving in Alkmaar with Elder Brownell.
Elder Andrews will be serving with Elder Hanks in Utrecht.
Sister Hill will be going to The Hague and serving with Sister Sharp.
Sister Rich will be serving in Gouda with Sister Garvin.
Elder Brown will be serving in Ghent with Elder Thompson.
Today turned out to be the craziest transfer ever! We found out that that many of the train stations were closed down due to the weather. The assistants were frantically trying to figure out what alternatives we had. Stay tuned for the next blog post.......
