The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Big Smiles In the Ampen Family in Dordrecht

Hans Ampen and Mathilda Amofa 25 February, 2012
Dordrecht

Sister Schwab, Hans Ampen, Mathilda Amofa, Sister Rich and daughters of Hans and Mathilda

Han’s and Matilda's smiles have only gotten bigger since Sister Rich and Sister Wassenaar first met them on the street in Dordrecht 5 months ago. After making their first appointment with Familie Ampen, the sisters realized they would have to cancel because it was scheduled for the same time as the first session of the October General Conference...so they just invited them to conference instead! Their family made every effort to be there, and enjoyed the conference. Hans was converted to the gospel from the very beginning, and was determined to obey every word of God. Matilda loved every appointment with the sisters. They have attended church faithfully every week for the last few months, and really add something special to the Dordrecht Ward. They have also touched many people with their faith and desire to share the gospel with others. Both Hans and Matilda were raised believing in God, but when he talks about the church and the Book of Mormon, Hans just keeps saying, "I didn't know. I didn't know." Well, now he knows, and his family is experiencing the blessings that come from knowing and doing. The Monday morning after their baptism, Hans called the sisters (Sister Rich and Sister Schwab): "I just called to thank you people. You gave me my life back." We sure love seeing them so happy!

Love, Sister Rich and Sister Schwab

  1. Hi, my name is Rachelle (soon to be Sister Lopez)! I am so glad I found this blog!! I have actually been called to the Belgium Netherlands Mission. I report to the Provo MTC on October 3, but should be in Belgium the first week of December. I will be preaching the Gospel in Dutch!
I was originally called to the Belem Brazil Mission, but my call changed to Belgium and the Netherlands. I am very very excited to serve there and reading some of this blog has helped me feel a little more motivated! I cannot wait to serve :)
