The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

More Powerful than Wheaties for Breakfast

What could be better than starting at our the day by visiting the Rotterdam elders! Over the last few months they have transformed the work and their apartment! All the clutter was gone from the apartment! Thanks to the Saldens (our energetic, 'young' senior couple) the scary couch had been replaced. These four elders are so excited to share the Gospel with everyone they meet.
We were pleasantly surprised to find lunch waiting for us when we arrived in Rotterdam South. Zuster Vels and Zuster Ekstrom have a happy apartment. Not only do the bright green walls lift your spirits, but the positive attitudes and smiles of two of my other favorite sisters in Rotterdam! It was a joy to be with them. We just didn't want to leave, so we took them with us! We took them to their next appointment. They were going to one of the care centers in the area to render service.
This was our first time to Almere. Almere is one of the youngest cities in the Netherlands: the first house was finished in 1976, and Almere became a municipality in 1984. After World War II housing was needed for the rapidly growing population of Amsterdam and two towns were planned in the polders, one of them was Almere.

Elder Knutson and Elder Thompson live in a perfect area in the city! McDonalds is right around the corner, and shops and grocery stores are just a few minutes away! We had a challenging time finding them, and ended up on the one- way bus line! They came and rescued us! We had a great visit with them! They love finding the elect and we are seeing great success in Almere!

Out last appointment of the day was not too far away in Bussum. Look who was there to greet us! Our ANGELS, the Saldens! They bless the lives of our missionaries! They are so creative and full of vim and vigor and are transforming the physical conditions of the missionary apartments! Elder Salden was born and raised in Limburg, Holland. They are a great addition to the ward as they serve in leadership positions! Sister Salden had fixed a three course meal for us! We had a delightful evening with them, and enjoyed learning more about their beautiful family as we looked at photos of their beautiful grand children!

I love to call them on the phone! Elder Salden replies,
"TODAY IS FINE AS FROG'S HAIR."
I just smile when I think of the Saldens!
