The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Zwolle, Assen, Groningen, Heerenveen Visits

We love this part of the Netherlands. On Friday morning our GPS took us on a breathtaking drive through the country on our way to Zwolle.
Elder Taylor and Elder Staker are serving in Zwolle. They saw us headed for the wrong building, and helped us out!
We have heard that Elder Staker is a great cook. We were invited to have lunch with them.

Elder Taylor and Elder Staker did not have time for a full consecrated hour one day, so they both felt really good about looking up a former investigator. He was home, and he had just come home from vacation. He was really open, and they were able to set up an appointment with him. He was about ready to leave when they came by. The timing was perfect!

"In the service of the Lord,
it is not where you serve but how."
David O. McKay
Elder Ellis and Elder Merrill greeted us in Dutch Style!
Elder Ellis really has embraced the Dutch culture! I loved it!
They have a new apartment in Assen. They live right in the middle of the centrum. It is a great location with lots of people passing by everyday. It is a beautiful apartment, and are keeping the white carpet clean!
Elder Ellis and Elder Merrill found a young man who had no belief in Christ, and had no reason to have Jesus Christ in his life. They were able to teach him using the Book of Mormon the importance of Jesus Christ. Since he met with the elders he has had a desire to stop drinking and is wanting to give up smoking. At first he wasn't at all interested in coming to church, but now he thinks it could be a possibility, as his life has become so much better since he met the elders.

We found two enthusiastic, energetic devoted missionaries in Groningen. We are now in the northern most part of our mission, very close to the North Sea.

Mail please!
Miracle story to follow. We were relieved to see in the far distance two young men in white shirts waving to us from their balcony. Our GPS got a little mixed up, and took us to the wrong address. We walked with the elders directing us to
their apartment.
The Heerenveen apartment never looked so good!
Elder Wilcken and Elder Heyer were anxious to tell us about an area just outside of Herenveen, in Wolwega, where they have been successful in finding many people who are willing to listen. They have 5 new investigators, and 1 former investigator!
They live in a high high rise building.
We were able to capture a great view from their apartment.
