The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Zoetermeer and The Hague Visits

On Wednesday, we started our day with visiting the sisters in Zoetermeer. We were greeted by two enthusiastic happy sisters.
The sisters have really been busy getting the apartment in better shape. We had a grand tour of their apartment, especially the bathroom! New paint can do wonders!
Leo is another investigator. He is about 28 years old. They invited him to come to church and write a question down of something he wanted answered at church. He came with his question. He shared his question with the sisters after the meeting. He had wanted to know if her could be with his wife in this life and in the next life. The lesson in Priesthood meeting was about Eternal Marriage. He was convinced that he knew his answer was from God.

Story of Natasia- investigator. Found her during a consecrated hour. She seemed a little interested . The second visit they gave her a Book of Mormon. She seemed a little closed, so when they went back for their 3rd visit they were expecting it to be their last visit. When she opened the door, her countenance was completely changed, and she was very warm and welcoming. She had read until III Nephi, and had lots of questions! sister Kremer said we did nothing but give her a Book of Mormon!

After leaving Zoetermeer we drove to the Hague.
Elder Andrews, Elder Crittendon, Elder Klippel, and Elder Brockbank are all serving in The Hague. We check to make sure batteries are up-to-date in their Co2 detectors and fire alarms.
We want to make sure these priceless missionaries are safe.

Miracle Story Mariella, a 26 year old Dutch girl was waiting for the tram one morning, when see saw 2 elders pass her on bikes. She instantly knew they were missionaries, but didn't know which church. She searched on the internet and found the name of our church in the Hague. The next Sunday she went to the church, but it was being renovated. She didn't know what to do next, so she went back to the internet and referred herself. The elders received her referral, and called and made an appointment with her. She was searching and she was able to learn about the church, was helped to overcome her problems, and was baptized 5 weeks later.

We also have two sisters serving in the Hague. Sister Ence and Sister Welch are meeting lots of people to teach. The ward is so supportive of the missionaries, and consequently there is a good feeling among the ward members and the missionaries.
During a consecrated hour- a man stopped them and started talking to them. He was a member once and had married a Moslem women who had made him change religions. Every time he comes to the church he gets emotional and he knows the church is true and misses it so much and regrets leaving it. He prays every night. He believes in Christ. What were the odds that he was in the same neighborhood that day. Even though the sisters weren’t able to start teaching him, they gave him encouragement and hope.

(translation)
Testimony
God is our Heavenly Father.
Jesus Christ is his son and our Savior.
Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and
translated the Book of Mormon.
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
is God's true church on the earth.
We have a living prophet today.

Missionaries are so diligent in learning the Dutch language. We have found notes to help them with vocabulary and testimonies on cupboards, bathrooms, living rooms, front doors......everywhere!
