The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Zuster Idema Was a Welcomed Referral

Hermine Idema, Gouda, August 23, 2011

At the end of April, we received a phone call from the Elders in Hengelo... they had a referral for us! They didn't give us too much information, just a name and a phone number. We called, and Zuster Idema answered! She let us know that she would be moving to Gouda in May and that we were more than welcome to come over then and visit. Our first appointment with her was great! She was very open and sincere. We introduced a teaching calendar and she accepted. Our second lesson was very powerful. Zuster Idema has a strong testimony of the Plan of Salvation and she was really touched when we taught about what happens after our time on earth ends. The gospel of Jesus Christ provides healing for broken hearts, and she has experienced that healing firsthand. Her husband passed away just over a year ago, and although there has been much heartache, she understands and has experienced the peace that comes from the atonement of the Savior and the comforting power of the Holy Ghost. Every appointment was a spiritual high point of our week. Things were smooth sailing! The baptismal service was beautiful-- her wonderful family members were there and missionaries, investigators and ward members all came to support her in her decision to come closer to Christ. Her testimony of the restored gospel is strong. She is a beautiful woman with a strong desire to learn more from the scriptures and from the living prophet and apostles. She will help anyone without question, will lend a listening ear, will put her arm around you and offer comfort if you are having a hard time; she is a true follower of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Working with her has been a pleasure and an absolute blessing. She has changed our lives for the better. WE LOVE HER!!! (Zuster Perry and Zuster Moses and Zuster Holbein)
