The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Monique was found through her friend Adella. At first, she wanted nothing to do with us, due to the fact that she had heard many bad things about the "mormons" before. On our second visit to Adela, she felt like she should listen; so she sat in on the lesson and was able to ask and find out more about our church. The Book of Mormon interested her greatly, and she decided by herself that she would read it. She was wary of baptism when asked, as she was already baptized in another church, but said that she would if she felt that God told her to do so. A few weeks went by, and on a certain visit, after talking about the restoration and the Book of Mormon, she started to ask us about baptism, how we do it and what it means to us. We invited her again to be baptized, and she said that a couple of days before she had been thinking about it, when she felt something inside telling her that she needed to be re-baptized. She knew it was from God, and agreed very enthusiastically to be baptized on April 8. The following Sunday, not wanting to be late to our church, she decided to go to her old church, while there she heard a voice telling her to "Go home." She heard the voice three times, and she made the decision to obey and go home. Five minutes after arriving home, we showed up, going there to check up on her to see why she didn't come. She told us her story saying that if she hadn't come home, she would have missed us. She asked if there was a baptismal service being performed on the 18th of March, and she asked if she could also be baptized on that day! She accepted everything, has a strong testimony, and is preparing her family in Surniname also to hear and accept the message of the Restored Gospel. After her baptism, she told us,"I feel like burdens have been lifted off of me." To which we replied, "The church is true isn't it?" To which she replied "It is."
