The Brubaker Family

The Brubaker Family

President Brubaker and I are excited to be here as the Mission President and companion of the Belgium Brussels Netherlands Mission! We love your sons and daughters, and feel to thank you for the wonderful missionaries you have raised! This is a very unique mission. Our mission includes two countries, and five languages, not including many dialects spoken in the Netherlands. The missionaries are teaching many people from all around the globe. With the help of the Spirit, the missionaries are finding those who have been prepared to receive the Gospel. This is truly the best mission in the world, and we are honored to be a part of it. We will try and take good care of your sons and daughters. We love them so much already!

We have 5 children and 11 wonderful grand children. We have so much fun together! We are grateful for the support they have given us as we prepared to leave for three years. Our home is in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have raised our family in the Millcreek Holladay area. We enjoy many activities together. We are happiest when we are hiking in Southern Utah, cross-country skiing into our rustic cabin in the Uintahs, enjoying a good game of Train or Settlers of Catan, or just being together and sharing a meal with each other. We love our family so much!!!

Chow-Ming Li Is a Golden Contact Through Area Book

Chow Ming Li, 3 March, 2012

Elder Fullmer, Chow Ming Lee and Elder Merrill

Chow-Ming Li was contacted on the street many years ago by the missionaries.  He made great progress and gained a testimony that the message of the Restoration, Plan of Salvation, and Gospel of Jesus Christ were true.  He changed many things in his life to follow the commandments of Christ.  On the teaching record, there was a note from past Elders that he was ready to be baptized in Hong Kong.  We read the record to see what had happened, but there was no end to the story, so we did some investigation and looked him up.  We went to his house and were told that he was not home, but his wife gave us his number.  It took a week or two to find him because he is a very busy business man. After a few tries, we set up an appointment.
After getting to know him and getting acquainted, we began our appointment by asking about his thoughts of the Book of Mormon.  We quickly learned that he still believed that it was true and that the rest of the message was also true.  So, Elder Taylor asked, "So, what is holding you back from being baptized?" I will never forget this simple response: "Nothing."
We set up a baptismal calendar.  He chose to be baptized on the 3rd of March, 2012.  The date which we set this appointment was, 7 December 2011.  We thought it was a long way away and that both of us would be gone by that time.  But as we taught, the date never changed.  And as it turns out, I am still here.  The lessons went well.  The members and he remembered each other from before and he quickly fit in.  As we taught, we found a strong believer in Jesus Christ.  We even took him on joint teaches a few times when he was also investigating. That was quite helpful.  He had a great understanding of the gospel as we taught.
The day finally came that he was ready to be baptized.  The baptism was short and simple, but powerful.  And, as Alma 37: 6-7 says, through small and simple things, great things are brought to pass.  I see much potential in this young husband and father.  First, that the gospel can help him, but also that he can support those he loves.  He will be a great asset in the church.
